By Kim Andrew
Recently, I created a delicious goose and broccoli recipe that turned out perfectly! The tender slices of goose were marinated in a savory sauce, then stir-fried with crisp broccoli florets, resulting in a delightful dish that was both flavorful and easy to prepare. To elevate the taste, I added garlic and sesame oil, which infused the meal with a warm, aromatic essence. Served over warm rice, this recipe has quickly become a family favorite and is sure to impress anyone at your dinner table! It’s quick and easy to make, perfect for a weeknight dinner or entertaining guests.

How to cut the goose meat

When preparing this meal, it’s crucial to understand the proper way to cut the meat. Aim to slice it into thin strips while ensuring you cut against the grain. This technique provides the meat with the ideal texture and chewiness that you desire.

Food Substitutions

Common food substitutions include:

  • Instead of white rice: cauliflower rice or rice noodles.
  • Instead of white wine: Chinese wine

How thick you want your sauce

If you are a person that loves your sauce thick, you might want to adjust the recipe. AND THAT’S FINE! I actually like my sauce thick but this recipe is written for those who don’t want it thick. It’s easier to thicken it up than the other way around.

For thicker sauce, put 1Tbs of cornstarch and 1Tbs of water in a cup and stir it up. Then add it to your sauce. If you want it even thicker, no problem! Just repeat this process again. Remember YOU ARE IN CHARGE!

PreperATION is key!

Being prepared for cooking this meal is key to enjoying the cooking experience! What I mean by this is that when you prepare, it’s super easy to cook it and have it on the table hot and ready for dinner.

Clean and slice meat before you have to get cooking. I like to take my time with the meat, making sure I am slicing against the grain, that I like how thin it is, and that the meat has time to marinade. The meat only needs to be marinaded for 20 minutes or so, but if I have time, I prefer to marinade it for an hour.

Preparing can be difficult! I have four children who all seem to need my help and want my attention at the same time, so I understand the challenge. Sometimes I break it down into parts, and other times it’s a Hail Mary cooking night with no time to spare. This recipe still works, but I might not be smiling and humming while making it then.

Blanching broccoli

  • It helps retain its vibrant green color and crisp texture.
  • It reduces bitterness.
  • It preserves nutrients.
  • It inactivates enzymes responsible for dulling the color.
  • It stops enzyme actions that cause loss of flavor, color, and texture.
