About Me
Welcome to My Page!
Hey there! I’m Kim Andrew, proud mama of four, wife to my amazing husband Scotty, and a firm believer in living a life that’s a little simpler, a little wilder, and a whole lot more connected to the land.
Thanks to Scotty, I discovered my love for the homesteading, hunting, and self-sufficient lifestyle. He’s the reason I first picked up a bow, got my hands dirty in the garden, and learned to see the value in doing things ourselves — not just for the savings, but for the satisfaction.
Within our first year together, I had what I like to call my lightbulb moment. Scotty had harvested a deer, and I went to the butcher shop to pick up the meat. When I saw the bill, my jaw dropped — I couldn’t believe how much we were paying for meat he had already hunted and brought in himself! Right then and there, I decided never again.
That single moment sparked something in me — a determination to learn how to process, prepare, and preserve our own food from start to finish. What began as a way to save money quickly turned into a passion for knowing exactly where our food comes from, how it’s handled, and how much healthier it can be when you do it yourself.
Now, years later, that spark has grown into a lifestyle. Between raising kids, caring for animals, processing meat, and making homemade meals from scratch, we’ve found joy and purpose in being hands-on with everything we do.
This page is where I share that journey — the wins, the lessons, and all the real, down-to-earth moments that come with being a homesteading, hunting, family-loving mama just trying to live a more intentional life.

Scotty’s Hunting Bio
Scotty grew up in a hunting family. When he was 6 years old, his parents purchased a little over 8 acres of hunting land in Lock Haven, PA. When he was 10 years old, they built a cabin. With the guidance of his father, Scotty started his hunting experience at the legal hunting age of 12 back in 2004, before the mentor hunting program was put into place in Pennsylvania.
For the past 14 years, Scotty has been an avid hunter. He spends many hours hunting, listening to hunting podcasts, researching various techniques, learning about thermal dynamics, and understanding which types of firearms are best suited for different kinds of game. His dedication has ensured that our freezers are well stocked with meat from various animals.

Passing it on to the youth
Scotty relishes sharing his knowledge of the woods with our children. Witnessing our older two shoot their first deer was an emotional moment, filled with excitement, pride, joy, and the honor of being a part of such a memorable experience. The thrill of seeing our children follow in his footsteps brings him immense joy.
He teaches them not only how to shoot effectively but also crucial skills like tracking a blood trail and field dressing a deer. This journey into the outdoors is a shared family experience, and even the dogs are part of the adventure! There are times when Scotty successfully hunts a deer, and the whole family participates in the exhilarating search for where it fell in the woods. As he guides the kids in identifying signs of the deer, like blood on the leaves, he explains the significance of the blood’s color and the presence of air bubbles, sharing his insights on whether he struck the lungs.
